Argentina's Economy Minister Calls Economic Program the Path to Ending Inflation

Argentina's Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, stated that the government's economic program 'is the path to ending inflation'. According to the Argentine News Agency, the official made this comment following the release of the Consumer Price Index (IPC) and wholesale inflation data published by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC). Through his social media, Caputo explained why the lowest inflation rate since 2017 was recorded. 'This result, which contrasts with the 276.4% variation in the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) in 2023, was possible due to the combination of a fiscal surplus, strict control of the money supply, recapitalization of the Central Bank (BCRA), and various deregulation and trade facilitation measures that have allowed reducing unnecessary costs for the private sector,' he explained. Therefore, under the Economic Minister's view, the economic program 'is the path to finally ending inflation once and for all'. Wholesale inflation closed the year at 26.2%. Wholesale inflation accelerated in December and closed 2025 at the lowest level in eight years. The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) closed 2025 at the lowest level in eight years, having risen by 26.2%, while December accelerated to 2.4%. According to the agency, wholesale inflation was the lowest in eight years, having ended 2017 at 18.8%.
